Q: When is the studio open?

Open Studio is Wednesday to Friday 12pm to 9pm Saturday to Sunday 9am to 6pm.

Q: Can I drop in and use the studio?

Yes, We do drop in sessions with a minimum of 2hrs each time. If you have no ceramics experience please contact us to set up an induction before. Please check our schedule for drop in times.

Q: Can members use the studio when classes are running?

Yes! Members are welcome to work during class times. We limit class sizes so there are always some wheels available to use. Please be mindful of students and instructors while classes are in session.

Q: How do I store my work?

Each member has a designated storage shelf. Class participants have separate shelving. All personal items and work must fit within your assigned space — anything left outside may be moved or recycled unless otherwise approved by staff.

Q: How does firing work?

Firing costs $0.03 per cubic inch for bisque and $0.03 per cubic inch for glaze firings. Full Memberships receive a 30% discount on all firings. We fire to cone 6. Firing fees help cover the cost of materials, energy, and kiln maintenance. All work must be completely dry, glaze-free on the bottom.

Q: Is there a limit to how much I can make?

No — you’re welcome to make as much or as little as you like! However, we prioritize fairness in the kiln so everyone’s work gets fired in a timely manner. If you are a production potter, we may not have the capacity to fulfill the needs you require for your work.

Q: Can I use my own clay or glaze?

We offer house clay for purchase and provide a variety of studio glazes for you to use. You are welcome to bring your own commercial clay, liquid glazes, and underglazes, but all outside materials must be approved by studio staff before use to ensure they are compatible with our firing temperatures and materials. Testing is required before using any outside materials in the studio. All outside materials must be stored on your personal shelf, and outside clay cannot be added to the communal reclaim buckets.

Q: How long does firing take?

Each firing takes roughly 24 hours before the kiln can be safely opened. We fire at least once per week, and additional firings occur as the kiln fills.

Q: I’m new to ceramics — which class should I take?

Our Clay Basics class is a great introduction, covering both wheel throwing and handbuilding.

We also offer a one-day “Try the Wheel” session for a fun first experience. If you’d like to focus more deeply, Wheel 1 and Handbuilding 1 are perfect for beginners looking to build skills.

Q: What if I miss a class?

We’ll do our best to offer a makeup session if space

allows. Please reach out as early as possible if

you know you’ll be absent. Each class includes 2 hours

per week of open practice time, plus 2 additional weeks

after your course ends to finish any unfinished classwork.

Q: Do you offer private lessons or group workshops?

Yes! We offer private lessons, team-building events, and group workshops. Contact us for details and scheduling.

Q: Do you sell member work?

Yes! Members are eligible to sell their work in our gallery. We regularly host member exhibitions and pop-up sales — participation is optional but encouraged!

Q: Does the studio take a commission?

Yes — a 30% commission helps cover display costs, processing fees, and event operations.

Q:What about sustainability?

We strive to minimize waste in every part of the studio. Please reclaim clay whenever possible, use water and glazes mindfully, and help us keep materials cycling efficiently.
